Former World Heavyweight Champion Set To Appear At TNA Genesis

TNA Wrestling has announced that a special appearance will take place later this month. Former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry is set to appear live at TNA Genesis on January 17. The announcement adds significant star power to the event, as Hendry is currently under contract with WWE.

Hendry’s return to the TNA stage highlights the continued working relationship between WWE and TNA. While Hendry has been a fixture on WWE NXT television, his history with TNA runs deep.

The card for Genesis features several big matchups in addition to Hendry’s appearance. The TNA World Championship picture remains fluid, with the champion—either Frankie Kazarian or Mike Santana—scheduled to defend the title against Nic Nemeth. This bout will serve as one of the featured contests of the night.

The undercard is also stacked. The TNA X Division Championship will be on the line in a Triple Threat match, as champion Leon Slater defends against Cedric Alexander and Moose. Additionally, a retirement match is set to take place, with JDC putting his career on the line against Eddie Edwards.

Current TNA Genesis (1/17) Lineup:

  • TNA World Championship: Frankie Kazarian or Mike Santana (c) vs. Nic Nemeth
  • TNA X Division Championship: Leon Slater (c) vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Moose
  • JDC Retirement Match: JDC vs. Eddie Edwards
  • Singles Match: Elijah vs. Mustafa Ali
  • Appearance: Joe Hendry
