Former WWE Star Reportedly Discussed As Tommy Dreamer’s TNA Creative Replacement

Tommy Dreamer is out as TNA’s head of creative. The ECW icon announced on Busted Open Radio that he and the company have mutually agreed to part ways, ending a run with the promotion that dated back to 2018.

Dreamer, a co-host on Busted Open, said the split followed a conversation this week with TNA President Carlos Silva, and he was clear that there was no bad blood on either side, describing it as the natural end of an around-the-clock job he had held for years.

Dreamer had filled a variety of roles in TNA, working as a producer, a member of the creative team, an on-screen authority figure alongside Silva, and a wrestler. His creative leadership had drawn growing criticism over the past year, particularly as following TNA’s January 2026 move to AMC and the heightened expectations that came with the new platform. Some within the company reportedly saw a change coming, but had expected it to land after Slammiversary rather than now.

Attention has already turned to who might take over. According to Fightful, industry sources say Road Dogg has been discussed internally as a potential replacement. Brian “Road Dogg” James left WWE earlier this year, stepping away from his role as a co-lead writer on SmackDown. He cited an increasingly fast-paced creative environment, a shrinking role in the writers’ room, and a desire to spend more time with his family, and is believed to be operating under a WWE Legends deal that allows for occasional appearances.

As of this writing, TNA has not issued a formal announcement on Dreamer’s departure or detailed its plans for the creative team going forward. Dreamer will continue in his role on Busted Open Radio.
