Impact Wrestling made a play to bring back former tag team champions, plans for TV tapings

Impact Wrestling has been making waves in the free agent market to bring in several wrestlers.

This includes wrestlers who were released by WWE in April and past TNA stars. The promotion has been teasing surprises for its Slammiversary pay-per-view event on Saturday night as well as the return of a former World Champion.

It appears that there will be more surprises in store for fans as the promotion will hold TV tapings in the days following this PPV event.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported on Saturday that he has heard of several names that are rumored to be brought in to Impact Wrestling for the upcoming set of tapings.

In addition to several names that departed from WWE, Fightful has learned that “Impact Wrestling made a play for Motor City Machine Guns, and there were big tentative plans for the duo to come in.” Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley make up the tag team.

It was added that Sabin was originally planned to make an appearance at the TNA show earlier this year before the event was nixed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
