It looks like the days of the sleazy, oil pouring, d-flipping days of Joey Ryan have come to an end.
As you can see below, Ryan debuted a new gimmick that seems to be inspired by the early 2000s WWE faction Right To Censor and he is now going under the name Joseph P. Ryan. Ryan told the fans that they would never see the d-flip again.
The video screen had a graphic that said #CancelCulture so that might be the name of his new stable. SoCal Uncensored also noted that Rob Van Dam and his girlfriend Katie Forbes were involved in this segment.
For those of you unaware, the Right To Censor gimmick was when WWE repackaged several characters, including Val Venis and The Godfather. Stevie Richards (as Steven Richards) was the leader of the group and it was meant as a jab at the Parents Television Council (PTC), who was putting pressure on WWE to clean up their risque product. Most notably, The Godfather would no longer walk out to the ring with women surrounding him and he would change his name to The Goodfather.
Ryan seems to be doing something similar with his new gimmick.
