As previously noted on the site, Josh Mathews lashed out on twitter about a week or so ago after fans took exception to his comments on a YouTube video where he praised himself for being the greatest announcer in the wrestling business. Mathews, who has been a lightning rod for criticism for his commentary on Impact Wrestling and on social media, apparently is attempting to turn the shoot into a work on his twitter account.
He has gotten into twitter arguments with Shark Boy, Dave Penzer, and Jeremy Borash, among others. Prior to last week’s twitter spat, he ripped on TJ Perkins and Jim Ross. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Mathews got in some hot water with Impact Wrestling management over a recent tweet. The tweet was in reference to a reply to a wrestling podcast’s twitter account where Mathews told them to shoot themselves.
Several readers noted that there was also a tweet about JBL that has been deleted. For Mathews sake, hopefully, management is ok with the rest of his twitter rants, otherwise, it’s not a wise move as the lead announcer to be arguing with fans and other wrestling personalities especially since management is looking at bringing in new and returning faces. The “shoot yourself” tweet can be seen below:
.@realjoshmathews told us to " Shoot yourselves" great spokesperson for your product @IMPACTWRESTLING. You can't #delete this one. #SDLive pic.twitter.com/6zsgzPg1C4
