Latest on Matt Cardona’s status with Impact Wrestling

Matt Cardona made a surprise appearance at the latest Impact Wrestling pay-per-view event, Hard To Kill.

He did so by taking on Ace Austin in a singles match at Saturday’s event from Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. In the match, Cardona got the win via DQ as Madman Fulton interfered to save Austin. Following the match, Cardona fought them off then stood tall after hitting the Rough Ryder.

As a result, this has led to fans wondering what the future holds for Cardona in Impact Wrestling. It was noted on commentary that he’s with the promotion.

However, Fightful Select reports that he will work this week’s TV tapings, but doesn’t have a full-time contract with Impact. It should be noted that this upcoming slate of TV tapings will give the promotion enough content for their weekly TV show for months.

It’s possible that the two sides can agree on terms for a full-time contract. He was released by WWE last April due to budget cuts. After his non-compete clause expired, he went to AEW to work, but wasn’t signed to a full-time deal.
