TNA Wrestling is preparing for a significant transition as the company moves its programming to AMC beginning January 15. The move marks a shift for the promotion, placing it in more homes than it has been in for years. Ahead of the debut and the Genesis pay-per-view on January 17, TNA star Mike Santana discussed the atmosphere within the company and the pressure of entering this new era.
While speaking on the Direct Discussions Podcast, Santana described the move to AMC as a “huge deal” that has energized the entire roster. He noted that the transition is a testament to the hard work put in by everyone from production to the front office. According to Santana, the locker room is united by a common goal to grow the brand as much as possible, emphasizing that the current environment is one of the best he has experienced in professional wrestling.
“You’re getting a TNA that you’ve never seen before. We have this fire and this motivation unlike any other, and we got a lot to prove, and we’re going to prove it,” Santana said. “And again, me being in the position that I’m in, I’m going to make sure that everyone that is on my team is there to succeed.”
Reflecting on his return to the company in April 2024, Santana observed a distinct shift in energy compared to his previous run in 2017, which he described as “dark times” full of transitions. He highlighted the unique culture of the current TNA locker room, stating that they are focused on internal competition rather than trying to compete with other promotions.
“We’re not competing with anyone outside of TNA. We’re competing with ourselves, and we try to make sure that every match tops the last,” Santana explained. “And I think that’s great for any locker room, right? But yeah, as being someone who is at the forefront of just going into this new era, it’s a huge deal, and it’s a pressure that I’m welcoming.”
