Nic Nemeth’s TNA World Title Win At Slammiversary Wasn’t The Original Plan

This year’s TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view event was newsworthy, with top matches, including TNA World Champion Moose defending against Joe Hendry, Frankie Kazarian, Nic Nemeth, Josh Alexander, and Steve Maclin in a fatal four-way bout in the show’s main event, which saw Nemeth go over.

Other top matches included TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace defending against Ash by Elegance and TNA X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali dropping the title to Mike Bailey. Fans had pushed for Hendry to walk out as the TNA World Champion.

Fightful Select reports that Nemeth wasn’t originally planned to win the title at the pay-per-view. Despite the recent buzz with fans about Hendry, a win for him was never in the cards.

Instead, original plans called for Alexander to win the title for a third time, as they had plans dating back to June. This was at a time when he had just recently turned heel. He didn’t win the title because TNA management thought the feud with Alexander and Hendry was strong enough on its own without the championship on the line.
