Steve Maclin has been cleared following a frightening injury scare at TNA Sacrifice on Friday night, with TNA President Carlos Silva confirming he was not diagnosed with a concussion and was released from the hospital after passing all of his tests.
Maclin appeared to be knocked out just minutes into his TNA World Championship match against Mike Santana when Santana caught him with a superkick. Multiple TNA officials, including Silva himself, came out to check on Maclin, who was visibly struggling to stand. Eddie Edwards ran to the ringside and brawled with Santana, and the match was ultimately ruled a no-contest as Maclin was unable to continue. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for further testing.
Speaking with Jon Alba of SI’s The Takedown following the event, Silva provided an update that will be a significant relief to both Maclin and TNA. “He cleared all of his tests and was released back to his hotel for the night,” Silva confirmed, noting that Maclin was not diagnosed with a concussion.
Maclin has been one of TNA’s top homegrown stars in recent years and was in the midst of a high-profile championship program heading into Sacrifice. The no contest result leaves the TNA World Title picture in flux as the company processes the events of Friday night. No official update on Maclin’s status going forward has been provided beyond the confirmation that he cleared his immediate medical tests.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
