An update has emerged regarding the release date of WWE 2K26, thanks to a star who played a fundamental part in the Monday Night Wars. While it was previously announced that the upcoming installment of the long-running franchise will feature an Attitude Era Edition and a Monday Night War Edition, an official release date had yet to be revealed by 2K Games. However, a social media post from a WWE Hall of Famer appears to have let the cat out of the bag.
Former WWF Women’s Champion Alundra Blayze, who infamously dropped the title in the trash on WCW Monday Nitro during the height of the Monday Night Wars, provided the update while responding to a teaser trailer. The star, known to WCW fans as Madusa, indicated that the game is targeting a release window consistent with previous years.
“Well, look at this! I’m excited for this,” she tweeted. “However, I think they should’ve had my Face on there and not Bischoff’s. I mean, then there’s a woman on both sides. I’m having fun, people… I believe pre-orders start at the end of January and an official launch around March. Thank you for the opportunity. Can’t wait to see what they have inside.”
Blayze’s comments suggest that 2K is sticking to its successful spring release strategy. Last year’s entry in the franchise saw its general release on March 14 for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Windows. A March launch for WWE 2K26 would capitalize on the hype surrounding WrestleMania season, ensuring maximum visibility for the title. If pre-orders indeed begin at the end of January, an official announcement from 2K is likely imminent.
In addition to the release date news, rumors continue to swirl regarding the game’s content. It was previously reported that the popular Showcase Mode was set to return for this year’s release, with CM Punk expected to be the focus.
