NXT’s Robert Stone believes that in the current professional wrestling landscape, the once-unthinkable idea of WWE potentially purchasing TNA Wrestling could now be a reality. During a recent interview on “Ten Count with Steve Fall,” Stone discussed the recent industry-shaking partnerships and acquisitions by WWE, suggesting that “all bets are off” for what could happen next.
Host Steve Fall raised the topic by referencing WWE’s recent acquisition of a majority stake in AAA’s parent company and asked Stone if a similar move for TNA, a long-standing rumor, could now happen. “Oh, I think at this point in wrestling, in the WWE, anything could become a reality. I mean, if you say it out loud, I think it could happen,” Stone responded. “That’s how hot everything that WWE is doing right now.”
Stone, who has a long history with TNA and is currently involved in their crossover with NXT, praised WWE’s new philosophy of collaboration. “They’re so open, it’s so cool that they want to work with everyone, and they have open arms to every kind of style,” he said. “Now, we’ve had a working relationship this past year with with NOAH in Japan, like they just, they’re welcoming. They’re welcoming everyone, because they understand that there’s a lot of wrestling out there, so why not let’s all, you know, unify and work together and give the fans a little bit of everything.”
He reiterated that the possibilities seem endless. “So yeah, I mean, all bets are off at this point, anything could happen.” The current working relationship between WWE NXT and TNA is a historic one in itself, featuring championship matches and talent appearing on opposing brands’ television shows.
Stone’s comments reflect the shift occurring in professional wrestling, where WWE under the TKO banner appears more willing than ever to engage with and even acquire other promotions, making future landscape-altering moves a distinct possibility. Check out the entire interview below.
