Samoa Joe explains why he didn’t appear at Impact Wrestling Slammiversary for 20 year celebration

Impact Wrestling held its Slammiversary pay-per-view event on Sunday night, which marked a 20 year celebration for the promotion. Several past names appeared on the show whether that be in attendance or through video packages.

One name was missing and that was Samoa Joe. The former TNA star took to Twitter to explain that the reason he didn’t appear was simply due to him never being asked and even if he was asked, he still wouldn’t have been available to do so.

“Dearest cackling hens. I wasn’t asked, or available, and it should not mar a great milestone set by Impact. Happy Anniversary, and my best going forward to all involved.”

Other past names that appeared on the broadcast through video messages included AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, and Sting. Former TNA President Dixie Carter appeared for a short speech and to introduce Davey Richards as the mystery Impact Original.

Other surprises included James Mitchell accompanying Slash to the ring for the Reverse Battle Royal. Shark Boy, Chase Stevens, and David Young were in the Reverse Battle Royal. Bob Ryder was honored by Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt. Scott Hudson did a backstage interview.

America’s Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) drank with The Good Brothers and The Briscoes. A video package honoring original announcers Mike Tenay & Don West aired. Traci Brooks got involved in the Honor No More vs. Impact Originals bout while Earl Hebner counted the pinfall in the match. Christy Hemme did the ring introductions for it while D’Lo Brown, in Aces & Eights gear, interfered.
