Steve Maclin has returned to the ring for the first time since a scary injury at TNA Sacrifice. On March 27th, Maclin was set to challenge Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship in the main event of Sacrifice.
Early in the match, Santana landed a flush kick to Maclin’s face. Ringside medical staff, referees, and TNA President Carlos Silva came to check on him. Eddie Edwards ran to the ring and brawled with Santana, and the main event was called off.
Taking to Instagram, Maclin described the incident and the steps he has taken since.
“TNA Sacrifice was one of the scariest moments of my career. My first instinct was to keep going, push through, and finish the match. Because that’s just who I am, how Marines are hardwired. But it only took one voice to protect me from myself. Ace looked at me, calm as ever, and said, ‘You’re done.’ No hesitation.
No debate. I said ‘yes sir.’ Sometimes you need that coach, that dad voice, someone you have the upmost respect for, to make the call you won’t make yourself. I got back in the ring today for the first time in 2 weeks under Ace’s supervision. I can’t thank you enough. You might have dropped me but you CAN’T FU*KING KILL ME. #MACLIN,” Maclin wrote.
Maclin and Santana are scheduled to meet again for the TNA World Championship at TNA Rebellion on April 11 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
