Tessa Blanchard has taken to social media to deny allegations of racism that have followed her for several years, stating that she is exhausted by the narrative surrounding her past behavior. The former World Champion, who currently performs for TNA Wrestling, addressed the controversy directly in a series of posts this week.
In early 2020, Blanchard faced a wave of accusations from multiple female wrestlers alleging bullying and racism. The most prominent allegation involved an incident in Japan where Blanchard was accused of using a racial slur toward another wrestler and spitting in her face. While Blanchard has previously denied the specific use of the slur, the accusations led to a significant derailment of her career at the time.
In her recent posts, Blanchard acknowledged that she is not without her faults but rejected the label of racist. She claimed that the incident in question has been distorted by the current social climate.
“I’m not perfect, made plenty of mistakes in my life.. racism is not one of them nor has that ever been in my heart,” Blanchard wrote. “An incident from 10 years ago has continuously gotten twisted into something that race had absolutely nothing to do with because of the social climate. I’m tired of being used as click bait. Move on.”
When asked by a user on X if she is a racist, Blanchard offered a blunt rebuttal. “Nope. Never have been. Let’s move the hell on,” she responded.
