TNA Champion Teases Forming Tag Team With WWE Star

The “forbidden door” between TNA and WWE NXT has already created a number of dream matches and shocking moments, and now, it may be leading to the formation of a new, cross-promotional tag team. In a recent interview with WhatCulture Wrestling, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater teased the idea of teaming up more frequently with NXT’s Je’Von Evans.

The two recently joined forces on an episode of NXT, and Slater is not only open to the idea of a more partnership but has also set his sights on the legendary Hardy Boyz and their TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships.

“If you told me this question a year ago, I would have told you absolutely no way, it’s not possible. But in 2025 I truly believe anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling, so I don’t think it’s a far-off take to say that me and Je’von could win the tag belts,” Slater said. “Maybe we just win it off the Hardys, I feel like that would be a match a lot of people would love to see. The founders vs. the innovators, that would be an extremely fun match, and I’m down for it, man.”

The potential matchup is a tantalizing one for fans of tag team wrestling. Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans are two of the most innovative and athletic young stars in the business, while The Hardy Boyz are one of the most decorated tag teams of all time. Before they can think about teaming up, however, Slater and Evans will have to face each other. The two rising stars are set to compete in a one-on-one match for the TNA X-Division Championship at the upcoming Bound For Glory pay-per-view this weekend.
