TNA Confirms AJ Styles Is Returning At Slammiversary

On Thursday night’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling, the company officially confirmed recent rumors by airing a video package featuring WWE Superstar AJ Styles. The surprise video, which included clips of Styles’ historic TNA run and ended with a shot of his ring gear packed in a crate, has sent the wrestling world buzzing with speculation that “The Phenomenal One” is set to appear at this Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.

The tease is the most direct indication yet of a potential return for the man many consider to be the greatest homegrown star in TNA history. It follows recent comments from TNA President Carlos Silva, who described the upcoming pay-per-view as “Phenomenal,” and TNA World Title contender Mike Santana, who named Styles as his dream opponent.

The Original TNA Icon

AJ Styles’ legacy in TNA is unparalleled. As a “TNA Original,” he was with the company from its very first show in June 2002 and quickly became the face of the promotion for over a decade. His list of accomplishments cemented his status as a company legend long before his departure.

Styles was the first-ever TNA X Division Champion, a title he would hold six times, defining a fast-paced, high-flying style that became synonymous with the company. He was also the first competitor to become a TNA Triple Crown Champion (winning the World, X Division, and Tag Team titles) and the first-ever TNA Grand Slam Champion (winning all eligible titles). His multiple reigns as NWA and TNA World Heavyweight Champion established him as a main event player and the undeniable cornerstone of the promotion.
