TNA Impact Preview: AJ Styles Returns For AMC Debut, Two Title Bouts

TNA presents a historic episode of Thursday Night Impact tonight from the Curtis Culwell Center in Dallas, Texas. This marks the company’s debut on AMC and the AMC+ streaming service following a multi-year agreement reached in early December. The show airs just two days before the Genesis pay-per-view event.

The premiere episode features a TNA World Championship match as Frankie Kazarian defends the title against former champion Mike Santana. Kazarian won the championship on the November 13 episode of Impact by cashing in his ‘Call Your Shot’ trophy during an invasion by NXT superstars. Santana is looking to regain the title he originally won from NXT star Trick Williams at Bound For Glory.

Nick Nemeth, who was declared the co-winner of the ‘Call Your Shot’ Gauntlet Match alongside Kazarian, still holds a title opportunity. Nemeth has teased that he could cash in his shot on this broadcast to generate buzz for TNA’s move to the new network.

AJ Styles Returns To TNA

AJ Styles is officially set to appear on the AMC premiere. This marks his first appearance for the company since Slammiversary last July. Styles left TNA in 2014 and signed with WWE in 2016. With Styles set to retire from in-ring competition later this year, there is speculation regarding a potential final match in TNA before he hangs up his boots.

The undercard features the in-ring return of Elijah, who suffered a torn triceps during a match on NXT last June. He will team with The Hardys to face Order 4’s Mustafa Ali, Jason Hotch, and John Skyler. Matt and Jeff Hardy were recently named PWI’s Tag Team of the Year for 2025. Additionally, The IInspiration will defend the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships against The Elegance Brand.
