The future of former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander is once again a topic of discussion, as a new report from Fightful Select indicates that his short-term contract with TNA Wrestling is set to expire “imminently.” According to TNA sources cited in the report, Alexander’s deal is “up around the time of Bound for Glory,” which takes place next Sunday, October 12.
Alexander made his surprise debut for TNA at the June 20 Impact TV taping, where he immediately inserted himself into a high-profile program by confronting Mustafa Ali. Since then, he has competed in eight matches for the promotion and has been a featured performer on their weekly television show. He is scheduled to be in action on this Thursday’s go-home episode of Impact before the Bound for Glory pay-per-view, though he is not currently announced for a match on the PPV card itself.
The Fightful report also mentioned that several other TNA contracts are up around the same time, but the company is actively working to renew those deals. He was released from his WWE contract in February of this year, ending a long tenure with the company that saw him win the Cruiserweight Championship, the Raw Tag Team Championship, and the 24/7 Championship.
Following his release, he openly expressed his desire to join the Hurt Syndicate faction in AEW, a group composed of his former Hurt Business stablemates from WWE. While that move has not yet materialized, his run in TNA has allowed him to showcase his in-ring skills and re-establish himself as a top-tier performer.
