TNA Wrestling is reportedly eyeing a significant addition to its roster as the company navigates its new era on the AMC Network. Following the premiere of Thursday Night iMPACT!, reports have surfaced indicating that TNA management and the locker room have a strong interest in signing top independent wrestler Richard Holliday.
According to a report from The Takedown on SI, Holliday’s name has been circulating frequently within the TNA locker room. Sources indicated that several talents are actively pushing for the company to sign the 33-year-old star. The interest is not just limited to the wrestlers, as the report notes that the company itself is interested in bringing him in during this transition period.
The Pitch That Almost Happened
The report revealed that there were creative discussions regarding how to introduce Holliday to the TNA audience. One specific pitch involved Holliday debuting as “Mr. Elegance,” the on-screen associate of Heather By Elegance. However, that role ultimately went to AJZ, who appeared on the AMC premiere.
“One pitch The Takedown on SI was made aware of was to have Holliday be revealed as Mr. Elegance, a role that would ultimately go to AJZ,” the report stated. It remains unclear if Holliday has entered into formal negotiations with TNA, but the internal support for his hiring suggests he is high on the list of potential targets for the promotion.
Holliday’s Rise And TNA’s Roster Overhaul
Richard Holliday has spent the last year expanding his brand on the independent circuit after a six-year tenure with MLW from 2018 to 2024. He is perhaps best known for his time in “The Dynasty” stable alongside current AEW World Champion MJF and Hammerstone. In 2025, he garnered significant attention by tweaking his character to focus on his “signature move”—a low blow—and earning a WWE tryout after successfully battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
The interest in Holliday comes at a time when TNA is undergoing a significant roster overhaul. The company recently saw the departure of The Rascalz to AEW and The IInspiration, who reportedly finished up with the company after dropping the Knockouts Tag Team Championships. Additionally, logistical issues have affected current talent, such as X-Division Champion Leon Slater, who missed the AMC premiere due to visa complications.
With TNA Genesis taking place tonight, Saturday, January 17, live from Garland, Texas, the company is focused on delivering a strong follow-up to their cable debut. Check out the card here.
