TNA’s The IInspiration Working Without Contracts

The reigning TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions, The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay), are reportedly working for the company without contracts, according to a new report from  Fightful Select.

Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay are best known to wrestling fans for their long tenure in WWE, where they performed as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, respectively. As the popular and charismatic duo “The IIconics,” they achieved the highest point of their WWE careers at WrestleMania 35, where they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. The team was a staple of the women’s tag team division before they were both released from the company in April 2021.

Following their WWE departure, the duo, now rebranded as The IInspiration, made their debut for TNA (then IMPACT Wrestling) at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view in October 2021. They made an immediate impact, capturing the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship in their very first match. However, in April 2022, the team announced they were stepping away from in-ring action indefinitely to pursue other opportunities.

After a lengthy hiatus, The IInspiration made their return to TNA Wrestling, quickly re-establishing themselves as the premier team in the Knockouts tag team division and recapturing the championships. Their current reign now faces an uncertain future, as their recent title defense at Bound For Glory reportedly took place after their contracts had already expired, making them free agents. The report from Fightful Select does note, however, that the expectation is for the champions to sign an extension with the company.
