It appears that Team 3D will reunite to face The Hardy Boyz one last time at Bound for Glory following an angle set up at Slammiversary. D-Von Dudley has confirmed that if he did work another match it would be his last. In a new interview, the TNA Hall of Famer also discussed his health and why The Hardys are the perfect opponents for his farewell.
The stage for this legendary final encounter was set at this past Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view. After The Hardy Boyz won a chaotic four-way ladder match to become the new TNA World Tag Team Champions, they were confronted by Bully Ray, who challenged them to one last match against Team 3D at the Bound for Glory event on October 12.
D-Von Dudley Insists This Is His Final Match
Appearing on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, D-Von Dudley was adamant that his return to the ring at Bound for Glory will be a one-time-only event. He stated that this will be the definitive end to his in-ring career. It should be noted that this interview was recorded before Slammiversary.
“If we were to do one more match, it would be the last one and that would be it,” D-Von said. “There is no one more, ‘Can you come back one more time, one more time?’ No, because — and I tell this to everybody when they ask — I go, every time I do one more time, that one more time is over, let a year go by, ‘Hey, you guys look great, you can go another match.’ No, we can’t, stop, stop.”
Trust In The Hardys And Confidence In His Health
Despite suffering a stroke in 2020 and undergoing spinal surgery in 2022, D-Von said he has no hesitation about returning to the ring from a health standpoint. He noted that training with students at his wrestling school has kept him feeling good. He also explained that The Hardys are the only opponents he would trust for his last match.
“If I was to do anything in the ring again, it would have to be with Matt and Jeff,” D-Von said. “And those are the only two I trust. Even though I think Jeff is out of his damn mind [laughs], but those are the only two I would trust [with] my body on the line and to go in there one more time.”
