#5 Mark Hunt plans to fight for the UFC Heavyweight title before his current UFC deal is up

UFC heavyweight fighter #5 Mark Hunt is scheduled to fight #5 Stipe Miocic tomorrow night at UFC Fight Night 65 and recently commented on his current contract with the UFC, a possible title shot and more.

Hunt on getting a title shot: “I want to fight for the world title, of course. I’ve got four fights to do it. Fighting Stipe – he’s above me in the rankings it’ll be another step closer to it. I’m looking forward to going in, I want a proper shot at the title. I wanna get that world title, man!”

#4 Mark Hunt (10-9-1) 7 KOs, 0 Subs, 3 decision wins in his career and is 2-2-1 in his last five bouts. Hunt is currently riding one fight losing streak.

Hunt on his current deal with the UFC: “I’ve got four fights left on my contract. I just want to fight – I want that world title shot. I want to get a world title before I finish my career. People always ask when I’m going to retire. I’m competing with the best fighters in the world and still knocking them out. I’ll compete until I feel it’s time for me to move on.”

Hunt beat Stefan Struve in March of 2013 by third round TKO, but then lost to Junior Dos Santos in his next bout at UFC 160 for the UFC Heavyweight Title by third round spinning hook kick. He went to a majority draw with Antonio Silva in December of 2013, but then rebounded against Roy Nelson in September of 2014 by second round knockout. In his next/last bout, he lost to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 180 for the interim title by second round TKO.

UFC Fight Night 65 takes place on Saturday, May 9th, in Manila and will air on exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
