Al Iaquinta: “I think if it went down the same way, I’d do the same thing”

If you saw the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 63, Al Iaquinta vs. Jorge Masvidal, then you know it was a very close fight.

Al appeared on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour and was asked if he would do the same thing during his ranting post-fight interview.

“I think if it went down the same way, I’d do the same thing,” Iaquinta said. “You don’t boo me. I freakin’, I’m the reason you’re there watching. I put it out there on the line. I got this scar on my face. After I fought, and it was a good fight, Matt (Serra) said to me, ‘You’ve got a new scar on your face.’ I got a scar from this. This ain’t a joke. This is real. And then people start booing me? What, every time I look at this scar I’m going to say, ‘Oh, that was the time, remember the time when people booed me?’ So now every time I look at the scar, it’s the time I cursed out Virginia and told them to go f**k themselves, so it’s a little better, you know?”

Al Iaquinta (12-3) 6 KOs, 1 Subs & 5 Decision wins. AL is also 4-1 in his last five fights and is riding a four fight winning streak. He beat Kevin Lee at UFC 169 by unanimous decision, but then lost to Mitch Clarke by second round Brabo choke at UFC 173. He then knocked out Rodrigo Damm in September of 2014 in the third round, Ross Pearson in November in the second round, and then Joe Lauzon at UFC 183 in the second round.

UFC Fight Night 63 took place on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and aired on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
