Chad Mendes stuns Ricardo Lamas at UFC Fight Night 63

UFC Fight Night 63 took place on April 4, 2015 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and aired on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Ricardo Lamas (15-3) 4 KOs, 4 Subs & 7 Decision wins. Lamas is 4-1 in his last five fights and is currently on a two fight winning streak. He beat Hatsu Hioki by unanimous decision in June of 2012 then knocked out Erik Koch in the second round in January of 2013. He lost to Jose Aldo by unanimous decision at UFC 169. He got back on track with a win by unanimous decision in June of 2014 and then in his last fight, he beat Dennis Bermudez by 1st round guillotine choke.

Chad Mendes (16-2) 6 KOs, 2 Subs & 8 Decision wins. Mendes is 4-1 in his last five fights and is coming off a loss to Jose Aldo. He beat Yaotzin Meza in December of 2012 by 1st round KO, then did the same to Darren Elkins in April of 2013. He finished Clay Guida by punches in the third round during their fight at UFC 164 in August of 2013. He beat Nik Lentz by unanimous decision in December of 2013. In his last fight, he lost to Jose Aldo by unanimous decision at UFC 179 in October of 2014.

Round 1: Lamas worked over the legs of Mendes early with kicks. Lamas landed an uppercut when Mendes shot in. Lamas with a chopping leg kick. Lamas with a good snapping left jab. Mendes stunned Lamas with a right hand, Lamas got back to his feet, but Mendes hurt him again. Mendes swarms him over and over with punches. Lamas trying to show off heart and stay in this fight. Mendes with a series of left hands that put a stop to Lamas.
