CM Punk begins career as MMA broadcaster

CM Punk might never fight inside the UFC’s Octagon again, however, it looks like he’ll get to continue his career within the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) with the Cage Fury Fighting Championship promotion – as a commentator. MMA Junkie reports that Punk has signed with CFFC, who now air their events on UFC Fight Pass, to serve as a commentator.

He will debut at the CFFC 71 event from the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City on December 14th. Punk released this official statement on the opportunity:

“I can’t wait for this opportunity to call the CFFC fights on UFC Fight Pass,” Punk said. “CFFC has a long history of putting on exciting fights featuring some of the sport’s up-and-coming athletes.

“This card is going to be a lot of fun, and I’m really excited to have the chance to be a part of it.”

Punk will share the commentary booth with longtime play-by-play broadcaster and New Jersey radio host Mike Gill. They will be joined by CFFC broadcast veteran Brian Palakow. CFFC President Rob Haydak had this to say about the former WWE Champion joining the promotion:

“CM Punk’s knowledge and passion for MMA is incredible, and his charisma and personality make him a perfect fit for this role. By pairing him with Mike Gill, a true sports broadcasting veteran who has been around the fight game his whole career in Atlantic City, we have a great combination for our first show on UFC Fight Pass.”
