Former WWE Champion CM Punk recently competed in a jiu-jitsu tournament.
Dave Meltzer reported the news in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter where he noted that Punk competed under his birth name in a novice Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament.
Meltzer wrote, “Punk, using his real name, quietly competed in a novice BJJ tournament recently and placed third in a 199.9 weight class division that had three competitors.”
Once he signed with the WWE, Punk career took off as he would later hold several championships including the WWE Title. However, after dealing with injuries and lacking the desire to wrestle anymore, Punk decided to walk out of the company following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in 2014.
This was the last time he was associated with the company as he later received his termination papers on his wedding day. He later took his talents to the Octagon in the UFC where he would lose to Mickey Gall and Mike Jackson.
