He beat Erik Koch in at UFC 164 by unanimous decision, then beat Diego Brandao at UFC 168 by first round KO punches and then Akira Corassani in April of 2014 by second round TKO. In his last bout prior to UFC Fight Night 63, he lost to Conor McGregor at UFC 178 by first round TKO in just 1:46.
Round 1: Diego comes out quick and aggressive. The two exchanges, Diego with an arm drag, but Poirier popped right back up. They clinch with Poirier’s back on the fence. Poirier breaks out, they exchange in the center of the octagon. Poirier with a leg kick, Diego lands a counter right. Poirier got kicked in the nuts accidently. Diego with a left hook and then a jab to lean into his clinch with Poirier. Poirier with a huge left hand that drops Diego, he lands an elbow while on top. Diego puts his feet up in defense, Poirier let’s Diego up and lands a left hook. It drops Diego, Poirier swarms him, he lands a big right hand and puts Diego out.
