Julianna Pena defeated Milana Dudieva in the first round of their main card bout with punches in bunches at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 63 bout. She spoke about her return to the octagon after being out of action for so long.
“It’s surreal. It feels like a blur – it really does,” she said. “It’s extremely emotional for me. When I was on ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ I finished, everyone on that show. And then at the end of the season, the fans got to vote on who they think could get the bonuses. I didn’t get ‘Submission of the Season,’ I didn’t get ‘Fight of the Season.’
UFC Fight Night 63 took place on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and aired on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
“When I fought (at the TUF 18 Finale), Gray Maynard stole my knockout money of the night. I’m never getting bonuses, and that’s my fault for being out for a year. But it’s just a blessing, so much, and over-emotions are flowing through me right now because I really needed it. “
Julianna Pena (6-2) 3 KOs, 3 Subs & 0 Decision wins. She is 3-2 in her last five fights and is currently on a two fight winning streak. She beat Stephanie Webber second round armbar in December of 2009 and then beat Rachel Swatez by guillotine choke in the second round back in December of 2011. She then lost to Sarah Moras by doctor stoppage in April of 2012 and then again to Deanna Bennett in February of 2013 by unanimous decision. She made her UFC debut at TUF 18 Finale in November of 2013 and beat Jessica Rakoczy by 1st round TKO.
“I just want to thank Dana White and Sean Shelby and Lorenzo Fertitta and Frank Fertitta III for getting me that bonus. What a blessing to be working for the UFC and representing this company. I’m really honored.”
The event brought in 5,417 people for a live gate of $545,604.
