Lightweight Title Bout added to the ONE Championship 28: Warrior’s Quest event

One Championship issued a press release to on Tuesday morning to announce two new bouts to the One Championship 28 event.

- First up is a Lightweight title bout that will see the champion Shinya Aoki defend his title against Koji Ando.

Shinya Aoki is the ONE Lightweight World Champion and one of the best grapplers in mixed martial arts. Aoki has one of the most diverse grappling arsenals in the sport, and has finished 25 of his 37 victories via submissions. Aoki won the ONE Lightweight World Championship by submitting Kotetsu Boku, and continued his reign by forcing Kamal Shalorus to tap out. He now faces one of his toughest tests to date as he takes on Koji Ando.

Koji Ando is a Japanese Judo practitioner currently riding a five-fight winning streak. Ando became the number one contender by finishing both Rafael Nunes and Zorobabel in impressive fashion. With an array of diverse striking skills coupled with solid submission grappling credentials, Ando poses the toughest test to Aoki’s ONE Lightweight World Championship reign.

One Championship 28 takes place May 22 at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore and streams as an online pay-per-view in North America.
