Luke Rockhold says ‘Lyoto Machida has to be worried about every aspect of his game’

Luke Rockhold is scheduled to fight Lyoto Machida this Saturday at UFC on Fox 15 and spoke about the upcoming fight. He also made a very strong statement by saying he is the most well-rounded fighter in MMA.

“Yeah, he’s definitely a difficult guy if you let him be that way,” said Rockhold. “If you take away his momentum in the cage it can work against him in many ways. Controlling the ring is huge. Me, being the bigger guy, people underestimate my footwork. They don’t know my subtleties and feints and that’s going to play a big factor. He’s fought some good guys, but I can strike with him, cut the corners, wrestle him, and he has to worry about every aspect of my game.”

Luke Rockhold (13-2) 3 KO, 8 Sub & 2 DEC wins. Rockhold is 4-1 in his last five fights and coming into UFC on Fox 15, he is on a three fight winning streak. He beat Tim Kennedy in June of 2012 under the Strikeforce banner by a five-round decision victory. He made his UFC debut against Vitor Belfort, but lost by first round head kick in May of 2013. He then went on to beat Costas Philippou in January of 2014 by first round kick to the body knockout. Then beat Tim Boetsch at UFC 172 by first round triangle kimura. In his next and latest bout, he beat Michael Bisping in November of 2014 by second round guillotine choke.

“I’ll fight my fight. I’m going to control the cage, strike with him, and make him think about my takedowns. If he’s taken to the ground, he’ll get into trouble, and it’ll open up my striking. The key is MMA, and I’m the most well-rounded fighter in the game. If I put it all together, I don’t have to worry about too much.”

UFC on Fox 15 takes place on April 18th in Newark, NJ at the Prudential Center and will air on Fox and Fight Pass.

The main event will be a middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold (13-2) and Lyoto Machida (22-5) and the co-main event is Chris Camozzi vs. Ronaldo Souza.

We will be providing live play-by-play coverage of UFC on Fox 15 on Saturday starting at 4:15PM EST.
