Michael Chiesa (12-2) 0 KOs, 8 Subs & 3 Decision wins. Chiesa is 3-2 in his last five fights and 1-1 in his last two fights. Chiesa beat Anton Kuivanen by rear-naked choke in the second round at UFC 157, but then lost to Jorge Masvidal in July of 2013 by Brabo choke. He then went onto a two fight winning streak with wins over Colton Smith in November of 2013 by rear-naked choke in the second round then beat Francisco Trinaldo by unanimous decision at UFC 173, but lost his last fight against Joe Lauzon in September of 2014 by doctor stoppage in the second round.
Mitch Clarke (11-3) 1 KOs, 7 Subs & 3 Decision wins. Clarke is 3-2 in his last fights and is currently on a two fight winning streak. He beat Eddie Rincon in April of 2011 by unanimous decision, then he made his UFC debut against John Cholish at UFC 140, but lost in the second round by punches. He then lost to Anton Kuivanen at UFC 149 by split decision. He then beat John Maguire by unanimous decision at UFC 161 and then beat Al Iaquinta at UFC 173 by Brabo choke in the second round.
Round 1: Clarke with a good overhand right. Clarke clinches and puts Chiesa on the fence. Chiesa slides out as Clarke is starting to find his striking range. Clarke right back to the clinch as Chiesa lands elbows to the back of the head of Clarke. Chiesa out and just misses a spinning elbow. Chiesa with a nice judo trip takedown. Clarke rolls out and gets right back to his feet. Clarke with the clinch, they exchange knees to the thighs of each other. Chiesa with another takedown, Chiesa with a nice combo that hurts Clarke. Chiesa rans at him and gets a quick takedown. Clarke right back to his feet, Chiesa with a quick takedown and gets the back of Clarke. Chiesa has a great body lock on Clarke and looks for a choke. Chiesa lets go and went for an armbar, but Clarke rolled back and Chiesa ends the round with a body mount.
Round 2: Clarke opens the round with some leg kicks. Chiesa clinches and lands some foot stomps. Chiesa gets another sweep takedown that leads to him getting the body lock while having control of Clarke’s back. Chiesa keeps control of Clarke for the good part of this round. Chiesa is landing some good elbows from the back.
Round 3: Chiesa throws a soccer kick right out of the gate, but misses. Clarke needs to finish this fight now. Brian Stann mentioned that he was down by a 10-8 in the first two rounds. Clarke lands a good left hand, followed by some body strikes. Clarke lands some good combos that stuns Chiesa. Clarke makes an effort in this round. Clarke with some good footwork, but Chiesa answers with his own combo of strikes. Clarke with a left hook. These two are just throwing punches.
Result: Michael Chiesa def. Mitch Clarke via unanimous decision (29-26, 29-26, 29-28)
