Mirko Filipovic (31-11) is coming off a win over Gabriel Gonzaga by third round TKO at UFC Fight Night 64. He mentioned on his own website about his desire for rematches with Nelson, JDS, Overeem and Nogueira.
This is what he wrote:
“Beating Gabriel made me very happy. And as long as fighting in the UFC is making me happy, then I hope to continue. This is something I really want to do. It’s something I owe to the sport and I owe it to myself to beat some of those guys. Some of them, yes, some of them, no,” Cro Cop says. “With Josh Barnett I will not fight, definitely. We fought three times and I beat him two times. Technically it was three but the first time I cannot be incorrect and take it as a victory. He was hurt after 30 seconds. We fell down and he hurt his shoulder. I was declared as the winner but it wasn’t victory. But let’s say we fought two times and two times I beat him fair, and I like Josh Barnett a lot. There’s no point to fight him. But [Antonio Rodrigo] Nogueira is definitely there, Roy Nelson is definitely there, and some other fighters. Junior dos Santos is definitely there. And perhaps [Alistair] Overeem too.”
He is currently on a three-fight winning streak prior to UFC Fight Night 64. In his last six bouts, he lost to Roy Nelson at UFC 137 by third round TKO. He left the UFC and went to the IGF promotion. He beat Shinichi Suzukawa by first-round armbar in December of 2012 but then lost to Alexey Oleinik in November of 2013 by first-round neck crank. Filipovic has since rattled off two-second round TKO over Satoshi Ishii in August and then over Ishii again in December. Filipovic is coming off a win over Gabriel Gonzaga by third round TKO.
