Preview and predictions for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 66 event

UFC Fight Night 66 takes place on Saturday, May 16 at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines. The event will air on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The main event will be #2 Frankie Edgar vs. #3 Urijah Faber and the co-main event will be #7 Gegard Mousasi vs. #12 Costas Philippou.

The event starts with a two bout preliminary card airing on UFC Fight Pass at 7 a.m. ET then at 8 a.m. ET they switch to Fox Sports 1 with a four bout card.

The main card starts at 10 a.m. ET with a six-bout card on Fox Sports 1 that features Mark Eddiva vs. Levan Makashvili, Yui Chul Nam vs. Phillipe Nover, Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Neil Magny and Luke Barnatt vs. Mark Munoz.

We will have live play-by-play coverage of this event Saturday morning.

MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 10 a.m. ET)

#2 Frankie Edgar vs. #3 Urijah Faber

#2 Frankie Edgar (18-4-1) 5 KOs, 4 Subs, 9 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. Edgar is currently on a three fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he lost to Benson Henderson at UFC 150 by split decision, then lost to Jose Aldo at UFC 156 by unanimous decision. He has since rattled off a three fight winning streak, he beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 162 by unanimous decision, he knocked out BJ Penn in July of 2014 and then submitted Cub Swanson in November of 2014 in the fifth round by neck crank.

#3 Urijah Faber (32-7) 7 KOs, 19 Subs, 5 decision wins in his career and is 4-1 in his last five bouts. He is currently on a two fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he beat Iuri Alcantara in August of 2013 by unanimous decision and the submitted Michael McDonald in December of 2013 by second round guillotine choke. He lost against Renan Baro at UFC 169 by first round TKO. He has since rebounded since, he beat Alex Caceres at UFC 175 by third round rear-naked choke and then beat Francisco Rivera at UFC 181 by second round bulldog choke.

Prediction: Faber by Unanimous Decision.

#7 Gegard Mousasi vs. #12 Costas Philippou

Fighter: #7 Gegard Mousasi (36-5) 19 KOS, 12 subs, 5 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five fights. He currently on a one fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he beat Ilir Latifi in April of 2013 by unanimous decision, then lost to Lyoto Machida in February of 2014 by unanimous decision. He then went 2-1 in his next three. He beat Mark Munoz in May of 2014 by first round rear-naked choke, but lost to Ronaldo Souza in September by third round guillotine choke and then beat Dan Henderson by first round KO.

Fighter: #12 Costas Philippou 13-4) 7 KOs, 1 subs, 5 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. He currently on a one fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he beat Riki Fukuda at UFC 148 by unanimous decision and then he beat Tim Boetsch at UFC 155 by third round TKO. He lost two straight bouts to Francis Carmont at UFC 165 by unanimous decision and then was knocked out in the first round in January of 2014 by Luke Rockhold. In his next bout, he beat Lorenz Larkin in May of 2014 by first round KO.

Prediction: Mousai by Unanimous Decision.

Luke Barnatt vs. Mark Munoz

Fighter: Luke Barnatt (8-2) 3 KOs, 3 subs, 2 decision wins and is 3-2 in his last five fights. He is currently on a two-fight losing streak. In his last five bouts, he rattled off three straight wins as he beat Collin Hart at the TUF 17 Finale by unanimous decision, Andrew Craig in October of 2013 by second-round rear-naked choke and then a first round knockout of Mats Nilsson in March of 2014. He has since lost two in a row, he lost to Sean Strickland in May of 2014 by split decision and then to Roger Narvaez in November of 2014 by split decision.

Fighter: Mark Munoz (13-6) 6 KOs, 1 subs, 6 decision wins and is fighting for the last time at UFC Fight Night 66. He is 1-4 in his last five and is on a three fight losing streak. He lost to Chris Weidman in June of 2012 by second round KO, but then beat Tim Boetsch at UFC 162. He then lost three fights in a row. Lyoto Machida beat Munoz in October of 2013 by first-round head kick knockout, then to Gegard Mousasi in May of 2014 by first round rear-naked choke and then to Roan Carneiro at UFC 184 by first-round rear-naked choke.

Prediction: Barnatt by 1st RD KO

Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Neil Magny

Fighter: Hyun Gyu Lim (13-4) 10 KOs, 2 subs, 1 decision wins and is currently on a one fight winning streak. In his last five bouts he is 4-1. He beat Ryan Bigler in June of 2012 at a local show by first round guillotine choke. He made his UFC debut in March of 2013 with a second round knockout victory over Marcelo Guimaraes and then at UFC 164, he beat Pascal Krauss by first round knockout. He lost to Tarec Saffiedine in January of 2014 by unanimous decision. In his next bout, he beat Takenori Sao by first round knockout in September.

Fighter: Neil Magny (14-3) 4 KOs, 3 subs, 7 decision wins and is currently on a six-fight winning streak. In his last five bouts, he beat Tim Means in May of 2014 by unanimous decision, Rodrigo Goiana De Lima in June by second round knockout and then Alex Garcia in August by unanimous decision. In his next/last two bouts, he beat William Marciano at UFC 179 by third round KO and then Kiichi Kunimoto in February of 2015 by third round rear-naked choke.

Prediction: Magny by Unanimous Decision.

Yui Chul Nam vs. Phillipe Nover

Fighter: Yui Chul Nam (18-4-1) 8 KOs, 1 subs, 9 decision wins in his career and has won his last five bouts. At UFC Fight Night 66, he will be making his second UFC appearance. He has been a pro since 2006, he has six first-round finishes, he has a win over UFC vet Hacran Dias and will also be making his featherweight debut at UFC Fight Night 66. In his last five bouts, he beat Masahiro Toryu in September of 2012 by first round KO, he beat Vuyisile Colossa in November of 2012 by split decision and then beat Takasuke Kume in April of 2013 by unanimous decision. In his next two bouts, he beat Takasuke Kume in October of 2013 by unanimous decision and then made his UFC debut against Kazuki Tokudome in March of 2014 by split decision.

Fighter: Phillipe Nover (10-5-1) 1 KOs, 5 subs, 4 decision wins in his career and is 4-1 in his last five bouts. He is a former Bellator MMA fighter and at UFC Fight Night 66 is making his UFC debut. He has a BJJ black belt, four first round finishes, he is 5-2 in the UFC and is making his featherweight debut. In his last five fights, he beat Derrick Kennington in September of 2012 by second round rear-naked choke under the Bellator MMA banner, but then lost in his next bout against Tony Martin in January of 2013 by majority decision. He went back to Bellator and beat Darrell Horcher in April of 2013 by unanimous decision. He moved to the ROC promotion where he beat Mike Santiago in June of 2013 by unanimous decision and then Dan Cio in January of this year by second round rear-naked choke.

Prediction: Nover by 2nd rd KO

Mark Eddiva vs. Levan Makashvili

Fighter: Mark Eddiva (6-1) 3 KOs, 2 subs, 1 decision wins and is 4-1 in his last five bouts. He has been a pro since 2006, he has four first round finishes and 1-1 in the UFC. In his last five bouts, he beat Alvin Clerino in March of 2009 by first round TKO then beat Engie Pilto in June of 2009 by first round rear-naked choke and then got another first round rear-naked choke over Alex Lee in January of 2011. He made his UFC debut against Jumabieke Tuerxun in March of 2014 by unanimous decision, but then lost his next bout against Edmilson Souza in May of 2014 by second round TKO.

Fighter: Levan Makashvili 3 KOs, 3 decision wins and is 4-1 in his last five bouts. He has been a pro since 2011, he has two first round finishes and is 0-0 in the UFC. In his last five bouts, he beat Tom English in September of 2013 by second round KO, a unanimous decision win over Jordan Stiner in February of 2014 and then a fourth round TKO win over Scott Heckman in April of 2014. He lost to Alexandre Bezerra in August of 2014 by majority decision, but then rebounded with a win over Alexandre Bezerra in December of that same year by unanimous decision.

Prediction: Maskvill by 1st RD KO

PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 8 a.m. ET)

Tae Hyun Bang vs. Jon Tuck

Fighter: Tae Hyun Bang (17-8) 9 KOs, 0 subs, 8 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. He has been a pro since 2004, he has Takanori Gomi and Jorge Masvidal in 2008. He knocked out Cameron Silva in the first round back in July of 2010, but lost to Daisuke Hanazawa in October of 2010 by first round rear-naked choke. He then went 2-1 in his last three bouts. He beat Joo Dong Hwang in June of 2013 by second round TKO then lost to Mairbek Taisumov in January of 2014 by unanimous decision in his UFC debut, but rebounded with a win over Kajan Johnson at UFC 174 by third round KO.

Fighter: Jon Tuck (8-2) 4 KOs, 4 subs, 1 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. He has been a pro since 2007, he competed on TUF, but broke his toe in a fight against Al Iaquinta. He has finished all but two of his win the first round (4 KOs, 3 subs) and all of his submission wins have come by rear-naked choke. In his last five bouts, he beat Tristan Arsenal in November of 2011 by first round submission, then made his UFC debut against Tiequan Zhang in november of 2012 by unanimous decision. He then went 1-2 in his last three bouts. He lost to Norman Parke in October of 2013 by unanimous decision, but rebounded against Jake Lindsey in June of 2014 by third round submission. In his next bout, he lost to Kevin Lee at UFC 178 by unanimous decision.

Prediction: Bang by 1st rd TKO.

Kajan Johnson vs. Zang Lisping

Fighter: Kajan Johnson (19-11-1) 4 KOs, 11 subs, 4 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. He is currently on a one-fight losing streak. Johnson has been a pro since 2002, he was 7-1 prior to his appearance on TUF Nations. In his last five bouts, he beat Josh Russell in November of 2009 by second round TKO stoppage, he lost to Ryan Machan in December of that same year, but then ripped off a two-fight winning streak before joining the UFC. He beat Ryan Healy in November of 2010 by unanimous decision and then Richie WHitson in October of 2011 by first round rear-naked choke. He made his UFC debut at UFC 174, but lost against Tae Hyun Bang by third-round KO.

Fighter: Lipeng Zhang (9-8-1) 2 KOs, 3 subs, 3 decision wins in his career and is 3-2 in his last five bouts. He is currently on a one-fight losing streak. Zhang was a member of TUF China. In his last five bouts, he lost to Chris Garcia in May of 2013 by first round guillotine choke, but then ripped off a three-fight winning streak. He beat Isamu Himura in June of 2013 by second-round TKO, then joined the UFC in March of 2014 and beat Wang Sai in March of 2014 by split decision. He beat Brendan O’Reilly in august of that same year by unanimous decision, but then lost to Chris Wade in January of 2015.

Prediction: Lisping by Unanimous Decision.

Prediction: Lima by 2nd submission.
