Sunday's UFC Fight Night on Fox Sports 1, headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver, did gigantic numbers for the network. The show averaged 2.75 million viewers. The show peaked at 3.1 million viewers. Obviously that is great news for UFC and the number shows that there were a ton of fans that tuned in to see Conor McGregor and fans that tuned in after the AFC Championship game so the experiment (putting a free UFC show on a Sunday) worked.
The prelim bouts went head to head with the AFC Championship game and still pulled in 908,000 viewers. That may be among the highest rated prelims ever for UFC. Sunday's Fight Night main card was the most watched UFC card since The Ultimate Fighter heavyweight figher finale on Spike TV in 2009.
MMAFighting.com reports that McGregor received a 170,000 purse for his fight. Siver reportedly earned $39,000. McGregor was all over Fox programming hyping the fight. Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, who fought just two weeks prior, earned $146,000 for his fight on Sunday.
