UFC Fight Night 69 play-by-play results

[Show: UFC Fight Night 69] [Location: Berlin, Germany] [Date: 6/20/15] [Airing Live On UFC Fight Pass]

PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, noon ET)

Taylor Lapilus vs. Yuta Sasaki

Round 1: Yuta shoots in on a single leg and gets it right away. Lapilus right back to his feet, they clinch on the fence. They separate after one minute of clinching. Lapilus presses the action while Yuta runs and lands leg kicks. Yuta clinches once again halfway through the round. They separate thirty seconds later, Yuta shot in, but ae a knee to the chin. Lapilus with rapid fired knees to the body of Yuta. Lapilus with some dirty boxing. Lapilus is using some great takedown defense and is landing with a left jab. Lapilus with a spinning elbow to close the round.

Round 2: Lapilus continues to press the action, Yuta shot in on a single leg, but stuffed. Yuta is looking to counter with his strikes, but Lapilus landed a straight left that put Yuta on his back. Lapilus swarms him with punches and ends it.

Result: Taylor Lapilus def. Yuta Sasaki via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 1:22

Piotr Hallmann vs. Magomed Mustafaev

Round 1: They both come out and clinch. Mustafaev looks for an inside trip, but can’t get it. Hallmann with a trip takedown into guard, but Mustafaev scrambles off his back quickly. Hallmann with the clinch once again, they exchange knees. Mustafaev tagged him back-to-back with a straight right. Mustafaev landed a flying knee to the jaw. Hallmann continues to get tagged. Hallmann with a dragged down takedown leading to guard. The round ends with Hallmann on top in dominant position.

Round 2: Mustafaev very aggressive to begin the round. Hallmann with a spinning back fists that landed stiff. Hallmann with a body lock clinch, Hallmann works him over with some knees to the body. They separate with Hallmann bleeding from his left eye. Mustafaev moves forward with some elbows. The doctor checked on Hallmann and called the fight.

Result: Magomed Mustafaev def. Piotr Hallmann via TKO (doctor’s stoppage) – Round 2, 3:24

Scott Askham vs. Antonio dos Santos Jr.

Round 1: Askham landed a huge right hand that put Santos on his face. Askham followed up with a knee to the jaw while in the clinch and this one is over.

Result: Scott Askham def. Antonio dos Santos Jr. via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 2:52

Niklas Backstrom vs. Noad Lahat

Round 1: Lahat with a double leg takedown two minutes into the round. Lahat works inside Backstrom’s rubber guard. Backstrom looks for an omma planta, but Lahat slides out and now Backstrom is on top. Backstrom transitions to the back of Lahat and looks for a choke. He softens him up with some strikes. Backstrom then switches to an attempted armbar, but can’t get it.

Round 2: Lahat tagged him with a counter right and then blitzed him. Backstrom suffers a cut where a unibrow would be. Lahat with a head kick and continues to keep the pressure on Backstrom. Lahat clinched and landed some big time uppercuts. Lahat is just owning Backstrom at this time. Lahat turns the pressure up with some back elbows to the head of Backstrom. Backstrom shot in on a double leg, but stuffed by Lahat. Lahat transitioned into top position in mount. He pours on the strikes Lahat with an armbar, but Backstrom gets out.

Round 3: Lahat with a good left hand, but Backstrom dragged him down and gets the back of Lahat, but Lahat scrambled to his feet. Lahat is fatigued. Backstrom shot in and got a double leg takedown. Lahat with a roll into transitions to mount, but Backstrom kicks him off and they once again stand. Backstrom dragged him down to the ground, he gets the back of Lahat. Backstrom works him over with strikes, but we got the distance.

Result: Noad Lahat def. Niklas Backstrom via majority decision (28-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Arnold Allen vs. Alan Omer

Round 1: Omer with a right hand that stunned Allen. Omer with the clinch, he landed a knee to the jaw of Allen and then some right hands to follow. Allen with a head kick. Omer with a knee to the face of Allen, but Allen tried to fire back with his own strikes but was swinging and missing. Allen with a series of strikes that led to a double leg takedown with one minute remaining.

Round 2: Omer with a waist lock takedown thirty seconds into the round. Allen scrambled off his back and Omer began to shot on a double leg, but stuffed. Allen clinched with Omer and put him on the fence. Omer reversed and got the back of Allen. However, Allen pushed him off and clinched with Omer on the fence.

Round 3: Omer gets a double-leg takedown to begin the round. However, Allen reversed and locked in a guillotine choke for the win.

Result: Arnold Allen def. Alan Omer via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 3, 1:45

Alan Patrick vs. Mairbek Taisumov

Round 1: Taisumov shot in on a double-leg takedown, he got it, but Patrick made it to his feet very quickly. Taisumov ducked in and Patrick caught him with a knee to the face. Taisumov kicked Patrick in the nuts accidentally, but we’re back to action shortly. Once we’re back to action, Patrick landed a stiff straight right to the face of Taisumov that stunned him.

Round 2: Taisumov rushed Patrick, but walked into a stiff right hand. Patrick with a kick to the back of the head as Taisumov shot in and Patrick blitzed him with strikes on the ground to end the fight.

Result: Alan Patrick via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 1:30

Makwan Amirkhani vs. Masio Fullen

Round 1:  Amirkhani shot in on a double leg and got it. He gets the back of Fullen, he locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.

Result: Makwan Amirkhani def. Masio Fullen via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 1:41

MAIN CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 3 p.m. ET)

Nick Hein vs. Lukasz Sajewski

Round 1: Sajewski presses the action early, they clinched and the separated. Sajewski got a quick double leg takedown, but it was very brief as Hein got right back to his feet.

Round 2:  This technical fight continues. They trade strikes in the pocket. Sajewski uses his strikes well within the pocket. He landed a counter right hook. Hein starts using more leg kicks that is slowing down Sajewski. Hein clinched, he put Sajewski on the fence.

Round 3:  Sajewski was accidentally poked in the eye, but recovered and continued to fight. Hein blitzed him with a series of strikes and began to really put a hurting on Sajewski. Sajewski attempted to put up a fight, but was getting fatigued at the end. They traded to the finish.

Result: Nick Hein def. Lukasz Sajewski via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Steve Kennedy vs. Peter Sobotta
Round 1: Sobotta with a trip takedown that leads him into half guard. However, Kennedy sweeped and got back to his feet. Sobotta got the back of Kennedy and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.

Result: Peter Sobotta def. Steve Kennedy via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 2:57

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Dennis Siver

Round 1: Kawajiri using a lot of leg kicks early on. Kawajiri shot in a single leg takedown, but Siver uses good takedown defense to stuff it. Kawajiri shot in on a single-leg takedown, but couldn’t get the takedown and ate a series of punches. Siver with a left hooked opened the door for Kawajiri to shoot in on a takedown and still couldn’t get it. At the end of the round, Kawajiri got a single-leg takedown and got it, but couldn’t do it much as he didn’t have enough time.

Round 2: Siver turns up the pressure in this round and keeps Kawajiri back peddling. Halfway through the round, Kawajiri got a double leg takedown. He softens up Siver with strikes. Kawajiri gets to mount and works over Siver with elbows. Siver rolled off his back as the round ended.

Round 3: Siver threw a leg kick, but Kawajiri caught it and went for a takedown. He got it, but Siver grabbed his neck and went for a guillotine choke. Kawajiri powered out and got to this feet. Siver clinched and put Kawajiri on the fence. Kawajiri dragged him down to the ground and worked him over with strikes.

Result: Tatsuya Kawajiri def. Dennis Siver via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Strawweight Title Bout: Joanna Jedrzejczyk (c) vs. Jessica Penne

Round 1: Penne forces the action early, she clinches with Jedrzejczyk and puts her on the fence. Jedrzejczyk blitzed her with strikes. Penne once again clinched and looked for the takedown. Jedrzejczyk dropped her with a big right hand, she swarms her with strikes, but couldn’t finish. Jedrzejczyk stood up and landed some leg kicks. Penne got to her feet to end the round.

Round 2: Jedrzejczyk with a series of head kicks to start the round. Jedrzejczyk balsts Penne with strikes and Penne is bleeding heavily from the noise. Penne clinches and puts Jedrzejczyk on the fence. Jedrzejczyk separates and continues to put Penne on blast. Jedrzejczyk with a series of elbows and Penne continues to bleed.

Round 3: Jedrzejczyk blitzed her again and Penne dropped to one knee. Penne’s top has turned white to red. Penne shot in, but Jedrzejczyk tossed her to the side and landed some big combo strikes. After Jedrzejczyk lite her up again up against the fence, the referee stopped the fight.

Result: Joanna Jedrzejczyk def. Jessica Penne via TKO (strikes) – Round 3, 4:22
