As noted, the UFC announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have retained USADA as the independent administrator for the new anti-doping policy.
The new policy will see unannounced, year-round, in and out of competition testing. Also, Urine and blood testing, any place, anywhere.
The UFC has removed themselves from the testing and let the USADA do all the testing and testing will start on July 1st with everyone under a UFC fighter contract being obliged to undergo these tests.
Finally, the UFC is funding the entire program and each UFC fighter will take an average of 5.5 drug tests per year.
UFC President Dana White commented on the new policy:
“I hope our guys aren’t using drugs. I hope that that isn’t the case. But we’ll see. We’ll see how this plays out.”
“We’re trying to create a clean sport where everyone is on the same playing field.”
“It doesn’t matter where you come from. You know cheating is cheating. ”
