Yaotzin Meza is scheduled to fight Damian Stasiak on the first bout of the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 64 and spoke about taking the fight on such short notice.
“We’ve been up in Vegas helping out Efrain (Escudero) for ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ and it’s been hard for us to get fights. It’s been like six months since I fought, so I’ve just been staying in shape, training and working hard, just waiting for an opportunity to come. “
UFC Fight Night 64 takes place on Saturday (April 11) at Krakow Arena in Krakow, Poland on UFC Fight Pass.
“When they called Coach (John Crouch) on Sunday and told him, ‘Hey, we’ve got a last minute fight at 145,’ it was just perfect. 135 is a little bit tough to make right now on short notice; ’45 was just something they needed to fill in this card, so I was game with it. I was like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s train for our last sparring sessions this whole week and let’s go out there.’ They needed something at ’45, so we took it at ’45.”
The main event will be Mirko Filipovic vs. Gabriel Gonzaga and the co-main event will be Jan Blachowicz vs. Jimi Manuwa.
