Earlier this week, Fightful reported about Warner Bros. Discovery wanting AEW to expand their pay-per-views so that they are running one per month.
AEW runs 5 PPV events per year starting with Revolution, Double Or Nothing, Forbidden Door, All Out, and Full Gear. That’s the number of events used to run when they added the King of the Ring to their schedule in 1993 but in 1995, WWE expanded to 12 events in line with what WCW was doing and the time.
The PPV expansion discussion by WBD is not a shock since they get a cut from the PPV buys through Bleacher Report and they stand to make much more money with 12 events per year.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the PPV expansion has been talked about but no decision has been made.
Andrew Zarian reported today that the plan is for ALL IN London to air as a pay-per-view just one week before the All Out PPV in Chicago. If ALL IN becomes a yearly tradition then that already means that they would be running 6 shows per year.
