A major name is expected to return to WWE

After WWE Hall of Famer Lita made her surprise return during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw to help Becky Lynch defeat Bayley inside of a steel cage match, there was talk of another Hall of Famer returning as well.

It was reported that WWE had plans for Trish Stratus to make a comeback on this week’s episode of Raw to set up a match at Elimination Chamber against Damage CTRL.

However, Stratus didn’t appear on the show, indicating the plans were dropped. The reason for the return and eventual match being scrapped was Dakota Kai going down with an injury.

WRKD Wrestling had first broken the news of Lita returning and Stratus’ planned return. WrestlingNews.co previously reported on our Patreon account that there had been interest from WWE about bringing back Stratus.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer also confirmed Trish was supposed to return. He also noted that plans for Trish to return aren’t dead.

“Trish Stratus was at one point scheduled for Raw on 2/13 at the Barclays Center, but it was canceled. The reports were it was due to Kai’s injury. On paper it sounds like they were trying to build Lynch & Lita & Stratus vs. Damage Ctrl. We were told that the Stratus angle isn’t dead and that the match wasn’t scheduled for Elimination Chamber.”

Various reports have stated that Dakota Kai and IYO Sky will defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania Goes Hollywood.

Meltzer added, “Whether that means Damage Ctrl would work twice over Mania or something completely different isn’t known at this point, only that there was a planned angle for this past week to bring Stratus back that was canceled and is still expected to be revisited at some point.”
