AEW is about to get back a star that has been sidelined for a while now, and it will come at an interesting time.
That star is Jack Perry, who has been working in New Japan Pro Wrestling with his ‘Scapegoat’ gimmick. AEW President Tony Khan reportedly blamed Perry for giving him no choice but to release CM Punk over the All In incident, and that’s why he hasn’t been used on AEW since.
Fans are still talking about the decision by to air the All In footage involving Perry and CM Punk at the August 2023 PPV event, which was a result of Perry doing a spot during his All In match on the windshield of a car and made a reference to glass to the camera, saying, “Real glass, cry me a river,” leading to the physical altercation. The incident with Punk occurred after Punk advised Perry against using real glass for a segment on TV. The incident resulted in Perry’s suspension and Punk’s release.
The Young Bucks vs. FTR match in the finals of the tournament for the Tag Team Titles is a ladder match at Dynasty this Sunday, and with the build of the match, a lot of fans expect to see Perry return here.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Perry worked his last NJPW date for now last week at Windy City Riot, and “he’s starting imminently in AEW.”
