WWE will be getting a notable name back on television this week on SmackDown, which is slated to be a big show as the company continues to carry the momentum coming out of Survivor Series.
The show
WWE has announced several things for SmackDown, including CM Punk returning to SmackDown, Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka, and United States Championship number one contender’s tournament first-round matches with Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross & Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar. SmackDown will also have the Tribute to the Troops theme.
AJ Styles is that star, as he hasn’t worked a match since the September 15 episode of SmackDown when he put over Finn Balor. The former WWE star was written off TV when the Bloodline attacked him.
The report
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Styles is slated to be back on Friday night.
“AJ Styles is going to be back on Friday, or he’s supposed to be back on Friday. He was supposed to be back a few weeks ago but wasn’t. That’s the plan right now,” Meltzer stated.
