On Wednesday, AEW President Tony Khan, Tony Schiavone, and ROH World & NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston were part of a streaming special to announce who would be competing in the inaugural Continental Classic tournament that kicks off tonight on Dynamite.
Kingston, Mark Briscoe, Andrade El Idolo, and Bryan Danielson previously declared for it. The tournament ends at the December 30th Worlds End pay-per-view event. The match winners get three points and draws earn each wrestler in the bout one point.
The winner of the Continental Classic will become one champion in the way of holding the Triple Crown Championship as the ROH World and NJPW Strong Openweight Titles are included.
Wrestlers are put into two different leagues with blue and gold separating them. Here is the list:
Blue: Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Brody King, Andrade El Idolo, Daniel Garcia, and Eddie Kingston.
Gold: Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, RUSH, Mark Briscoe, Jay Lethal, and Jay White.
Matches set for tonight’s Dynamite include Moxley vs. Briscoe, Strickland vs. Lethal, and RUSH vs. White. Collision matches this Saturday include Kingston vs. King and Garcia vs. Castagnoli.
