All Elite Wrestling is looking like the favorite to land Kazuchika Okada, one of the first major free agents in the world of pro wrestling in 2024, as they compete against WWE to sign the top NJPW star.
The deal
Okada will be free and clear of his NJPW deal, which expires at the end of this month and has worked his farewell tour over the past several weeks. Okada has been on the radar of some in WWE for a while now. However, unlike WWE, he knows what it’s like to wrestle in All Elite Wrestling.
AEW is believed to have made the stronger first offer, but no contract had been signed. However, both sides still believe they have a chance to sign him. As previously reported, the belief is Okada will start soon wherever signs and Okada has not made up his mind.
Update
Pwinsider reports Okada is not scheduled for the WWE Royal Rumble premium live event this Saturday. It was said that AEW is being seen as more likely of a landing spot for Okada than WWE.
It was added there has been very little, if any, talk between Okada and WWE.
