AEW Could Become a Cable/Streaming Hybrid Show Like NBA Simulcasts on TNT and Max

WWE wasn’t the only promotion to receive good news on Tuesday as AEW should feel better about renewing a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery regarding its own television deal.

Impact

Today, WWE announced they made a deal with Netflix that will see its flagship show, Monday Night Raw, move from the USA Network to the streaming service beginning in January 2025. They’ve also locked up NXT and SmackDown broadcast deals with the USA Network and the CW Network.

Since launching in 2019, AEW has had the same television partner in the United States in Warner Bros. Discovery. AEW currently airs its programming across TBS and TNT. As previously reported, AEW and Warner Bros Discovery are in deep negotiations to extend their TV rights deal. AEW’s deal expires at the end of 2024.

A few months ago, there was some concern for AEW’s future with the broadcast partner after WWE had two meetings with Warner Bros. Discovery potentially airing Raw on either TNT and TBS, which would’ve likely resulted in All Elite Wrestling needing to find a new TV home.

The possibility

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reported today “a source mentioned to me that is very possible for AEW to become a cable/streaming hybrid show.Much like how the NBA simulcasts on TNT and Max.”

This would mean Dynamite for example would air on Max and TBS at the same time. The NFL does this with Monday Night Football across ESPN and ABC.
