Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, portrayed the Captain Insano character in the 1998 film “The Waterboy” starring Adam Sandler.
After Wight signed with AEW in 2021, the company filed for the trademark rights to the name in March of that year.
Fightful Select reports there has been Captain Insano gear being made for the possible use of the character. No further details were given past that.
The report added that they heard there was a match discussed for Sunday’s All In pay-per-view event that would’ve seen Captain Insano, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Satnam Singh.
However, Jeff Hardy can’t get into the country due to his past legal troubles. It’s unclear whether Jeff could be replaced by someone and the match be a late addition to the card.
