AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT will be going head-to-head in October

Although the Wednesday Night War is over, WWE and AEW will be going head-to-head for one more time later this year.

It started in October 2019 as Dynamite and NXT went head-to-head every week. Dynamite would win in the ratings war the majority of the time. The war ended in April last year after NXT moved to Tuesday nights.

However, on October 18th, both shows will air on Tuesday night because of AEW being preempted due to TBS’ coverage of the MLB playoffs. Dave Meltzer discussed this on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

“The big thing is AEW and WWE are both gonna have dates changed because of the upcoming Major League Baseball playoffs. It’s not gonna affect anything until mid-October. But there will be an October 18 head-to-head on Tuesday with Dynamite from Cincinnati and NXT. The first time they’ve gone head-to-head in over a year.”

SmackDown will be preempted at least once during the World Series, as every year, it gets moved to FS1 in favor of the MLB championship series airing on FOX. SmackDown could air on FS1 for a second week, depending on how long the World Series goes.
