On the latest “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt looked back at the time when he won NBC’s Fear Factor in 2002. Matt talked about the things that contestants had to do on the show, including eating pig brains. Matt also gave his thoughts on some current wrestling news.
Matt Hardy on Ric Flair signing with AEW:
“I’m good friends with Ric. I’ve always gotten along well with him, but it’s really interesting. Honest to God, I just expected Ric was there through Sting’s final match and his retirement, which is like four months, four and a half months. I figured that was the run that Ric was going to do and then he would be finished and he’s doing something with his Wooooo! Energy drink as well, but lo and behold, he has signed for years, so it’s gonna be really interesting to see how that very opinionated and very outspoken AEW fan base react to him as time goes on. It’s going to be really, really interesting.”
Matt said we may be seeing a different side of him in the near future:
“If you’re one of those fans online that get mad or the internet wrestling reporters post stuff and we make headlines because we talk about interesting stuff and we have interesting viewpoints, interesting opinions, and if you get mad about all that, and don’t like me, and you think I’m a pariah, fine. Have it your way. There’s plenty of people that don’t and those are the people that I’m catering to now because once again, even at AEW, myself and Jeff, we’ve been very nice for a long time. We were willing to give back and give back and give back, but now, we really hadn’t been shown the respect that we should have been getting all along. So now we’re going to stop giving and we’re going to start taking, so we’re not becoming heels, we are becoming real and you are going to see the most realistic version of Matt Hardy that you’ve ever seen coming up in the future.”
