AEW could be bringing back one talent who has been on hiatus from the promotion for several months. Wrestlers not being used is not uncommon in the promotion as Tony Khan is known to go on a hiring spree despite having an already-loaded roster that he uses across Dynamite, Rampage, Collision, and ROH.
Rebel has been known for aligning with former AEW Women’s Champions Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker. AEW initially hired her to do hair and make-up before becoming an on-screen character in 2020.
Earlier this year, AEW did a storyline where it was questioned who Ruby Roho would side with for a program between Hayter & Baker and Toni Storm & Saraya heading into the Revolution pay-per-view event from the Chase Center as the idea was that Saraya and Storm were outsiders from WWE who are going against the homegrown talent of AEW in Baker and Hayter.
The promotion reportedly felt Rebel would no longer be used on television alongside Baker and Hayter because Baker and Hayter were turned babyfaces, and Rebel wasn’t the right fit as she is a heel.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported in a Q&A that there have been discussions about bringing back Rebel to television, although no further details were given.
