AEW hires former WWE employee, could be the new COO

With 2024 in full swing, AEW is doing everything it can to take the best steps forward after an interesting 2023 where the booking was criticized, and interest, attendance, and TV ratings saw a drop. AEW also lost key people behind the scenes such as Rafael Morffi, Dana Massie, and QT Marshall to start off the year.

Making moves

The promotion has a lot of good things going for them heading into the new year, where they will look to get a new television deal as their existing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery expires at the end of the year.

They’ve brought in new people, whether that be talent such as Deonna Purasso and soon-to-be Will Ospreay. They’ve also made moves behind the scenes.

The hire

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that “several within AEW have been notified that Kosha Irby will be joining the company, possibly in a COO role.” This comes after Irby had been the former Regional Director of Live Events for WWE in addition to his time with the Memphis Express of the AAF as President, and Clemson Tigers as Executive Senior Associate AD and Chief Marketing Officer.

He also did some work for Georgia State, the University of South Florida, and Saint Louis.
