AEW Is Getting More Aggressive in Contract Talks With Top Stars

2023 is an important year for AEW as they look to lock up several top names to new deals while also exploring a new media rights deal ahead of their television agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery for Dynamite and Rampage expiring next year.

The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) and AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF are top stars that will have to decide whether they stay with the promotion they helped launch in 2019 or go somewhere else.

Omega’s deal was believed that his deal was slated to expire in late January, but AEW extended the deal for the time that he missed while out with injuries.

It’s unclear how much longer he has on the extended time, but WWE is reportedly interested in signing Omega once he’s free and clear to talk. In past interviews, the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion is said to be open-minded about going to the rival promotion.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the contract talks between AEW and The Elite are still going on.

Meltzer wrote, “AEW is getting more aggressive in trying to get the contracts of the Young Bucks & Kenny Omega completed.”
